Italy tops Ukraine in Fed Cup quarters

02/07/2010 - Kharkiv, Ukraine (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Francesca Schiavone rallied from a set down to beat Kateryna Bondarenko of Ukraine and help defending champion Italy secure a spot in the Fed Cup semifinals.

Schiavone defeated Kateryna Bondarenko 2-6, 6-1, 6-1 to give the Italians an insurmountable 3-1 lead in the best-of-five series after teammate Flavia Pennetta dismissed Alona Bondarenko 7-5, 7-6 (7-3) in Sunday's first reverse singles match.

Sara Errani and Roberta Vinci took the doubles match to complete Italy's 4-1 triumph.

Italy captured its second Fed Cup title in four years with a victory over the United States in last year's final and now moves on to battle the Czech Republic, which beat Germany on Sunday.

The Ukraine was playing in the World Group of the Fed Cup for the first time.
