Iverson on early track to start All-Star Game
Basketball Betting Lines
12/15/2006 -
New York, NY (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Allen Iverson leads all Eastern Conference
guards in the first return of All-Star voting, but what uniform he will wear,
or even if he will be voted ultimately to play in the February game remains a
mystery.
A two-time MVP of the All-Star game, Iverson hasn't played the last four games
for Philadelphia 76ers and has been told to stay away from the team while they
try to trade him.
Iverson has 595,200 votes, just ahead of Miami's Dwyane Wade (586,679) among
Eastern Conference guards.
However, if Iverson is traded to a Western Conference team, he will have some
ground to make up in the voting. Los Angeles Lakers guard Kobe Bryant is first
among guards with 720,375 votes, followed by Houston's Tracy McGrady
(668,130).
Houston center Yao Ming (836,392) leads all vote-getters after the first
returns. Minnesota's Kevin Garnett (453,536) tops all Western Conference
forwards.
Cleveland forward LeBron James (808,570) leads the vote in the Eastern
Conference, Miami's Shaquille O'Neal (522,815) paces centers in the
conference.
The All-Star Game will be played Sunday, February 18 in Las Vegas.

Sportsbook betting odds favor Europe in Ryder Cup
September 19, – Despite holding a decided edge in the all-time series, with 24 wins, 2 ties and 10 losses, Team USA is the underdog again heading into the Ryder Cup in Kidare, Ireland this weekend, according to MySportsbook.com. The Europeans have captured four of the past five editions, including their largest victory ever, an 18 ½ to 9 ½ thumping in Michigan in 2004. Current Ryder Cup betting odds favor the Europeans to continue their winning ways; they are a 4-5 bet to take the title, compared to 6-5 for the Americans.
Despite being knocked out in the first round of World Match play by Shaun Micheel, Tiger Woods is predicted to lead the US charge and be their highest point scorer for the week, with odds listed at 9-4 that he outpoints all other American players, including Jim Furyk, Phil Mickelson and Chris DiMarco to name a few. Team USA has four relatively unknown players on the roster but all four are 2007 tournament winners and have posted some of season’s best performances, each earning over $1.5 million on the PGA TOUR. They include Zach Johnson, Vaughan Taylor, JJ Henry and Brett Wetterich.
The experienced European squad includes the likes of Luke Donald, Sergio Garcia, Padraig Harrington, Jose Maria Olazabal and Darren Clarke, who’s emotions will be tested after the passing of his wife to a battle with cancer. Donald and Garcia are in particularly good form and each is a 5-1 bet to lead the European squad in the points race. Donald has proven he can go head to head with Woods at a major event after a run for the $1.2 million purse at the PGA Championship. Garcia’s Ryder Cup credentials prove he’s ready for battle too.

Eastern Conference Playoff Betting Trends
We all know by now that the “public” loves to put their money on the FAVORITES and the OVERS. Just by taking a quick glance at Sportsbook.com’s “Betting Trends” it appears as is this tendency will continue as far as the Eastern Conference games are concerned. For the inaugural games of the first round, 69% of the early money is on Toronto -4.5; 59% of bettors prefer Chicago -4.5; 84% are backing Detroit -9; and 56% think Cleveland -11.5 is the way to go. As far as TOTALS are concerned, the only UNDER the “public” is backing is the Cleveland/ Washington game in which 83% are pounding the UNDER (190). Remember, there is no better way to predict a possible line change than by monitoring MySportsbook.com’s “Betting Trends”. By determining who the “public” is backing, you can get the most ideal line for your bet. For example, if you are siding with the public you better place your bet before the line moves in the wrong direction. On the other side of the coin, if you prefer the team that the “public” is betting against; you might be able to get and extra ½ or even more by placing your bet a bit later.
